If there aren't going to be many job postings this might be a good
place. If they are going to become noise then we should create a jobs
mailing list which people who are looking for jobs can join.

So long as it's just the occasional "I know someone looking for a
developer" rather than recruiters posting every new listing, I think
it's ok. We've had a job or two posted probably every month or so,
which isn't bad. Especially when it's someone already on the list
referring an opening they know about.

On the same note for you that didn't make the meeting last night I am
looking for a full time replacement working on in-house rails apps and a
few for clients. I'm leaving in about a week and trying to find a well
suited replacement. This position is in Vancouver. Send an email for
more info.

I think a better place to put job postings would be the web site. It
doesn't clutter up the mailing list and it's easier to access. The only
obstacle in doing so is to make it possible for job posters to post
their jobs.

I think they are trying to stay with the versioning the Web uses. So
2.0.

I was wondering about the 2+ years of experiences as a Rails
developer. Can't be too many of those since Rails 1.0 was released
18 months ago (one week before I registered Textmate).

What, you mean you haven't been contributing to core since 0.12? No
6-8 week contract for you, you... rifraff!

Fortunately, there's always that 10 years of .NET to fall back on.

Actually, anyone who participated in the original hackfest that
produced the Cat Herder app running on pdxruby.org has reached close
to, if not over 2 years since writing their first Rails code. The
Subversion logs for the production site don't start until Sept. of
2005, but I know that we had the 'dev' site up for at least a month or
more before we moved the 'herder over to the primary domain.

So, yeah, there's another half-dozen or so.

I'm not sure I would necessarily consider 2 years of rails experience
to be a good thing. I mean, think of a the number of old/obsolete
habits one might have!
